Game Night

Thank you for those who came to the meeting, it was really fun and we actually used Mandarin today!!!  We had 2 tables playing Mah Jong, and there were both people that were new to it and people who already knew how to play teach.

The 3rd table played various card games such as Poker, Black Jack, Mafia, and BS.  We tried our best telling the stories while playing Mafia in Mandarin as well as counting in Chinese for BS.

Don't forget that tommorrow from 11AM-2PM we will be in front of HIB selling Jamba Juice.  Also, be sure to join us for next weeks meeting for Conversation Night: Technology and Internet lingo in English and Chinese.  Hope to see you all there!

Cinco de Mayo

Hey Everyone, sorry for the last post again.  Hopefully everyone was on top of their mid-terms and school work the past week (or at least did a better job of taking care of them compared to me).  Last week, we celebrated Cinco de Mayo with the rest of the club and got some fish tacos from Rubio's!

We learned some new words for English, Chinese, and Spanish, got a little carried away and started learning about other languages too.  It's good to see so many people joining our meetings now, it makes it a lot more lively.

Tonight is game night, and from what I heard, we have 4 sets of Mah Jong.  This is one of our most popular events we have each quarter.  Even though people don't know how to play, they're still interested in learning, which makes it a fun experience for everyone!  Gonna go check it out now and then report back on the meeting soon after.

Drinking Games

Hey Everyone, I'm very sorry for the late post.  I hope everyone else is taking care of mid-terms and school work a lot better than I am right now.  Last week, we got together and played some drinking games but had V8 as our drink.  Yeaaaaaaah, a lot of people don't like the salty taste, so it was funny to watch you guys squint and stutter from drinking it!

Tonight, we're going to be celebrating Cinco de Mayo and learn about the culture behind it.  We will be eating Rubio's from what I hear.  So we'll have Tacos, Chips, Salsa, and soda to accompany our discussions and games for tonight.  Hope to see you all there!

Conversation Night - "What's in a Name?"

Hey everyone, thanks for coming out last week for conversation night.  It was good to see some new faces, I hope we keep getting more new members.

Last week, we played "2 truths and a lie" where everyone guesses which one is the lie.  We get to learn interesting facts about each other.  The main event of the night was to learn about what our Chinese (or other native language) name means.  We had a lot of help as many people knew what their Chinese/Japanese/Vietnamese name is.

This week, we will be having drinking games in the same room as last week. (sorry, no alcohol).

Easter weekend and Speed-dating

Thank you to all those who came out this week.  Speed dating was fun and everyone was very active.  We didn't monitor the time very well, so there were times where we spoke with the same person for 20 mins.  The good thing was that no conversation ever went into silence!  I was very happy to see everyone enjoying themselves in engaging conversations and being able to meet new people.

To those who might have walked near the Cross Cultural Center last saturday, LXP was having a Easter celebration dyeing eggs.  I apologize for not making it, but it would have been nice if other people went though.  It looked very exciting from the pictures.

Tommorrow (April 18th)  at Aldrich Park, we will have a booth up selling French Press Coffee and Homemade Banana Bread for Wayzgoose from 10AM-3PM.  Be sure to drop by with your friends, room mates, class mates and other in between and grab something to eat and drink.

Our next club meeting will be at Woods Cove A (4th floor student center) from 6PM-8PM.  As usual, it will be on tuesday (April 21st).  It'll be a conversation night and we will be socializing a lot.  The topic of the night will be "What's in a name?"  Hope to see you all there.

Spring Kick-off!

Yay!  It's Springtime and the last quarter of the school year!  Let's make it a good one because this may be the last quarter LXP exists unless we find a successor to our club.  If you're interested in taking over next year, please speak with either Amanda or Debbie.  Anyways, I apologize for taking so long before having a recap of our meeting earlier this week.  The past two weeks has been difficult with tons of work, but we all still came out this week and got to meet some new members!  Also, I hope those who participated in the easter event at Aldrich park had fun this morning.  On tuesday, we all introduced ourselves and got to know what LXP was all about.  We had snacks and drinks as usual while playing game such as Cranium!

Be sure to join us for the up coming meeting as it will be Speed dating, one of our most popular events we have each quarter!  Do not be intimidated by the word "dating" as it will be a casual event where everyone gets a chance to meet various people and make new friends (or even develop a relationship along the way!)  Hope to see you all there and Happy Easter!

Spring Kickoff!

Ni Hao everyone!  Welcome back, and hopefully you had a wonderful spring break.  We're going to be having our Spring Kickoff this Tuesday 4/7 (HH 224) from 6PM-8PM.  We'll have food and refreshments ready and an awesome presentation to get those who are new to the club familiar with the activities that we have throughout the quarter.  This is our last quarter of the school year, so let's make it a great one.  Hope to see you all there!
